At five in the morning, Dadaji hands Your child a steel bucket and points at Kaali, the big black buffalo. She swishes her tail and stamps. Your child is scared but remembers what Dadaji said: talk softly, touch her side first. Your child hums a film song, strokes her neck, and the first thin stream of milk rings into the bucket. Kaali chews and does not stamp again.

The tube well roars and cold water gushes into the channel, and the cousins jump in shrieking. Your child jumps in too, then notices that the water is running past the far field, where Ramu Kaka's crop is dry and drooping. Your child climbs out, finds the mud gate, and pushes it open with both feet so the water turns towards his field. Ramu Kaka brings jaggery that evening.
Story theme: Share the water and the whole village grows
Suggested ages 6–8
A new boy sits alone at the far end of the school corridor with his tiffin closed, because everyone already has a lunch group. Your child notices, picks up a tiffin and walks over. They swap a paratha for an idli and find out they both love dinosaurs. By Friday there are six children at the far end of the corridor and nobody eats alone.
Story theme: Kindness is noticing who is being left out
Suggested ages 6–8
Dadi has lost her glasses again and cannot read her prayer book, and everyone else is busy. Your child puts the cartoon on pause and searches under cushions, behind the fridge and finally in the fridge, where Dadi left them beside the milk. Then Your child sits and reads the prayer aloud to Dadi, slowly, until she is smiling with her eyes closed.
